MALAYSIA: Courses Help Veterans Get in Step With the Young Generation

Attention, soldiers!

The Information, Communications, and Culture Ministry of Malaysia is organizing training courses to help veteran groups familiarize themselves with the Internet as well as other forms of contemporary media. The courses are designed to ensure veterans continue contributing positively to the nation’s development and keep up with the tech-oriented times. The courses themselves will not be excessively intense but will serve as an introduction to the older generation of Malays.

The Ministry appears to be looking to use the Internet as a way to bridge the gap between the younger and older generations – something we don’t often see in the West. Certainly, in the United States, with tens of thousands of soldiers due to return from Iraq and Afghanistan, maybe efforts like Malaysia’s could be grafted here.
