KAZAKHSTAN: KAZAKH POP STAR TO PERFORM AT BIDEN’S 2021 INAUGURATION

ELLA KELLEHER WRITES It was announced on January 5th that the popular singer from Kazakhstan, Dimash Kudaibergen, will perform at the celebration of US President-Elect Joe Biden’s 2021 inauguration. Kudaibergen is best known for his show-stopping performances in China and on The World’s Best, a talent show from the United States where he along with producer-filmmaker Gia Noortas represented Kazakhstan.

In keeping with tradition, the host of the gala will be the Sister Cities International (SCI), which announced that the theme of the upcoming event is “All Roads Lead to Diplomacy.” Sister Cities International was founded in 1956 by the 34th President of the United States, Dwight D. Eisenhower. SCI CEO Leroy Allala and SCI event co-chair Dr. Christine Warnke recorded a video thanking Kudaibergen for his upcoming performance.

“Thank you very much, Dimash, for your cooperation and for your incredible voice and talent, capable of building bridges, thereby uniting people from all over the world,” Leroy Allala, CEO of Sister Cities International, addressed the Kazakh performer.

Due to the pandemic’s guidelines, Kudaibergen’s performance and the entire anticipated gala will be held virtually on Sunday, January 17th, 2021 from 7:00pm to 9:00pm EST.

Many other prominent singers and speakers will be present at Biden’s inauguration gala, some of which include Grammy award-winning singer Dionne Warwick and Abel Tesfaye (also known as The Weeknd). Kudaibergen’s upcoming performance stands out from the rest as this will be the first time since US/Kazakh relations began almost thirty years ago that an ethnic Kazakh artist from Kazakhstan will be part of such a monumental occasion.
