Popular Holdings, the Southeast Asian based publishing group, has announced the publication of ‘Conversations with Ban Ki-moon’ in simplified Chinese for Mainland marketing. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon spent many hours in confidential conversation with American journalist Tom Plate to produce a serious inside look at the United Nations from the perspective of its top leader. The book was originally published in English earlier this year, and subsequent editions have been launched in Korean — by Random House Korea – as well as in other languages, including Vietnamese and Malaysian. Additional translations are expected of this candid set of perspectives by the well-respect Ban, a veteran of the South Korean foreign service and a former foreign minister. Mr Plate, who is LMU’s Distinguished Scholar of Asian and Pacific Studies, has written similar volumes on Thaksin of Thailand, Mahathair of Malaysia and Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore, a bestseller.
